Happy Sunday Everyone!
This was a crazy week for me. I received two very large fabric donations, so my house was complete chaos for quite a few days as I sorted, folded and organized a lot of material.
I also received a few quilt tops and a whole bunch more orphan blocks.
Oh Dear...I almost forgot to write my post before I went to bed.
I did finish five more Two Bit blocks in the color pink but I was so excited to have enough blocks for a quilt top, I forgot to take photos. You will now have to wait to see them in the finished quilt. Sorry!
I have been trying to come up with a simple scrap block that I could sew up on a continuous basis and use in lots of ways. I have been thinking about this for months!
I also wanted something that didn't require a bunch of cutting.
This week I decided that I would just make some of these 4.5" x 8.5" strips of scraps. I can use any size width of fabric, I can make them any color and I can just stack them up until an inspiration fabric shows itself.
The next step will be to ...

The Blue/Brown rail fence quilts have been a big hit because they are gender neutral and can be given to anyone. The quilts that have a hard time finding a home are quilts that have a theme to them. Thanks to that feedback, I will definitely be mindful of the quilts I design for this project. I was told the first batch of 20 quilts were all distributed within weeks. They are so appreciative of all the generous quilters taking part in this ...

I started these blocks at the beginning of 2022 as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt. I had recently released my Chaser Block pattern (One of my Scrap Mixology patterns) and had the idea to add the flip corners to the block so a pinwheel appears where the block connects.
The little flip corners are not part of the pattern. I just constantly have ideas that ...
read moreIt looks like fall is finally coming to the PNW. Temperatures are still a bit warm during the night, but the nights are cold and the leaves are slowly changing colors. So a lot of my time this week has been spent doing outdoor chores.
I did get the final ten Chaser blocks completed for my RSC quilt. Here are the first six.
Here are the final four. I decided to add in a couple gray blocks because my scrap bin is overflowing.
(I used my Chaser pattern as inspiration for these blocks. Note that the pattern does not have ...

I wanted to sew up a quilt top this weekend, so I put all of my Scrap Mixology Chaser blocks up on the design wall. I thought I only had two more blocks to sew up. I was really disappointed to see that I need 10 more.
At first I thought I had a small stack of blocks somewhere but I did dig around in my sewing room and did not see them. So this top will just have to wait.
I did sew up some other blocks into ...

I didn't have a finished quilt to share on Friday and I haven't really started anything new so it is pretty silent around here.
We have been having some very warm days so it has been a good time to stay in and sew.
It has been nice to get caught up on a few projects.
I have finished sewing together all of the Covered in Love blocks. That was my biggest accomplishment for the week. Now I just need to get them on the longarm and quilt them.
A few more blue Switchplate blocks were sewn. These are made with five 1.5" x 3.5" strips.
I also finished up my blue Chaser blocks for June.
Looks like I need 14 more ...

I have been dragging my feet getting the paper pieced letter S done that I needed last month in the color pink. Well look what I finally finished this week!
I added them to my design wall with all the other completed blocks ...
read moreThe weather has been so lovely here I haven't been spending too much time in my sewing room. So I don't have a lot of blocks to share this week.
The sunny days have turned rainy here so I was able to spend some time in my sewing room.
I love this project more with every month's worth of blocks added.
I also finished two more of my Bloom blocks. I still have four more yellow ones to make for the quilt design I am making. Hopefully I can get to them next week - they are all cut, I just need to sew them up.
And lastly, I finished up my letter R for ...

I don't know about everyone else, but I am so happy to put 2021 in the rearview mirror.
Let's all have hope that this new year is a better one.
With only a few more days left in 2021, I thought I had better make a final decision on what Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks I am going to make for 2022.
I am keeping it simple this year!
This last week I continued to work on finishing blocks for a few of my scrappy projects.
Look what I found! I knew I had made four of these Chaser blocks last week. I found this missing one in a wrong stack of blocks.
